WHY I REFUTED THE NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS!

Someone said that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Every end of year then, I have sort of had new goals for the coming year every end of the year, except for 2019/2020. Why would I have no resolutions? I did not know why my heart was not settled enough to get even one single goal to live for. I tried writing and even asking God what he really had for me the coming year of 2020, to no avail. I felt a bit odd and efforts to force it didnt bear any fruit and by March, I had decided to settle for a "one-day-at-a-time" goal.

Little did I know that indeed I would be like more around the world who would have to crush their pre-meditated goals and flow with the current! I saw my world begin to form a cloud of darkness around the month of April as the office closed down and almost everything became paralysed in the country and around the world. I actually began feeling like indeed there was no need to have had those so-called resolutions for the year that ends this month. However, I kept thinking of what I would wish by the end of the year and I took those wishes to prayer through faith journal. Some of the wishes looked like a treasure-hunt in a land whose map was unknown to the commoners, but to the occupants of planet Mars. However, I chose to write in faith and trust that God was listening to them. Such included touching many lives through giving them hope, tangible outcomes, educating the society, increasing my education through enrolling for my doctorate and such.

The unfolding of the events began at a rather faith step of believing God to do a song yet I had no cash. I called my producer who said he would begin the work without any cash and would expect cash once I was able. To my surprise, the song came out better than I had expected and I have it on my youtube channel, Maggie Gichuki. The second milestone was as I enrolled for my doctorate degree in August at a time when this would be least expected. Indeed this was among the very odd ones seeing that my cash level was at its lowest. How I got admitted and even learning at the college still remains a work that only God takes his rightful glory. I have not seen such swiftly answered prayer. Mind you, I was on my second week of my surgery when all this was happening.

Third thing that deserves a mention was the networking that has seen Mukuru slums reached with not only food for the stomach, but with the spiritual nourishment that was much needed. God just opened doors for trainings to happen in the various settlement around the Industrial Area of Nairobi from the month of September. These trainings gave birth to more pastors and church leaders being trained through partnerships with people like Brian, the White family, Bishop Roseline, Pastor Nyangweso, Mwalim Maurice Orimba, Mwalim Yusuf and Mwalim Otieno (Hope FM), Yeshua Hamashia Ministries and such blessed people. God indeed was looking for unity to really proof his word, in Psalm 133, that where unity prevails, he commands his blessings. Through such partnerships, more than 200 people came to know and follow the Lord while over 500 people were exposed to the gospel. We hope that God shall keep the fire burning in the coming year.

I am ever grateful that though I seemed a bit strange at the face value to have had no "new year goals" yet God had his perfect plan which I comfortably fit in. As I look into next year, I believe that God shall prompt the right goals, or have his way in me. This year indeed taught me to totally surrender my wishes to wish into God's will. Will you surrender your to him?

As Aurora turns five months in January, we hope to have more students as well as network with others to bring God the glory due to him.

From Aurora's Founding Director,

I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Prosperous New Year 2021!
